Ummah is a common Arabic word meaning “people group” or “nation”. In the Qur’an God is said to have sent to each Ummah its own messenger. Muslims believe that God gave them an Ummah based on the Qur’an which was sent down to Muhammad.

The word Ummah comes from the word “Umm” which means mother. So Islam is like one’s mother. That is why you defend your mother. You stay loyal to her. The Qur’an says God placed heaven under the feet of the mother (The Hadith 1). The Prophet Muhammad said, “May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him. Your Heaven lies under the feet of your mother” (Ahmad Nasai). That is why you need to respect your mother. You fight for this mother to succeed.

Islam comes from a collective thinking.

The refugees are going to Europe because there is a war going on in Syria. The reason for the war in Syria is a gas pipeline. There is an ocean of gas in Qatar. The Qataris wanted to export it to Europe so Europe would no longer be depending on the gas that is coming from Russia. This gas pipeline had to go over Syria. President Assad of Syria said no for two reasons:

1. He is the last ally to Russia in the region.

2. He is an Alawite, which is an offshoot of Shia Islam.

Iran said they would like to export gas to Europe also. This time Assad said yes. That is why the Europeans say that Assad must go. Assad is being backed by the Shia Muslims and Russia. ISIS is being backed by the Sunni Muslims.

When you think about ISIS you think about three countries: Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The map of the Middle East that we know of at this moment will change very soon. Countries will be divided. We see countries supporting ISIS but they are not taking the refugees.
